I think I solved the problem:
When you right klick on the document that doesn't open, click on Data Source Management. Then you'll have the following option, which is a quote from the Help Menu:
Reset Last Access Information
To avoid accessing the wrong document, ATLAS.ti memorizes the certain state (size, date, path) of a document each time it was successfully accessed.
If ATLAS.ti detects a deviation between this access information and the referenced file, it assumes that it has been edited with another software or that it has been replaced with another version.
Because such changes bear the danger of corrupting the alignment of quotations, loading is rejected.
However, in some situations everything might be in good order. If you know for sure that the current state of the document would not render any of the work done in the primary document, like quote creation and/or coding, useless, you may force ATLAS.ti to accept the modified document as a legal primary document’s data source: choose Documents/Data Source Management/Reset Last Access Information. This synchronizes the access information stored in the HU with the actual access info of the file. An example of an action that does not negatively affect a PD is adding text at the end of a data document.
Note: With this powerful option you can make files loadable that could detrimentally affect your work. If you detect misaligned quotations after you chose this procedure, you know you did something wrong. If this has happened, you should either leave the HU without saving or correct all misaligned quotations manually.
Good morning,
I've gotten crazy deep into this text analysis stuff. Another PhD student I met is going through like 30,000 documents. . . too crazy for me. But if you are still exploring this link and PDFs will help. I've been testing Atlasti and it's really cool. . . but explore if you want:

about:configType it EXACTLY the way shown above. Do not improvise or type it the way that YOU think it should be typed. Do not add commas, parentheses or quotation marks. You’re serious about getting Google back as your default search engine, right? You’ll see a scary warning that says, “This might void your warranty!”. Ignore it, and click on the little box that says, “I’ll be careful, I promise!”. After you promise to be careful, Firefox will take you to a page full of intimidating computer stuff. Don’t waste time looking around, and DON’T mess with anything! There will be a filter bar at the top of your page. The filter bar looks exactly like the box you use to search for websites using IE, Firefox, or Google. In the filter bar, type in:
keyword.URLAgain, type it in EXACTLY as shown. Do not add commas, quotation marks, or parentheses.

Start with downloading and installing Adobe Pro 7, or asking me about this.
Configure this to your liking. I change some menus and move things around a bit. See the marked out Tools I Use (click the picture to open it large at right). To do this "right click" on the menu bar on top with your mouse and then select the same as me, or pick your own as shown below. This next figure here at right shows all that I selected in Menu Settings, just click the space for thh check to show or disappear:
But more importantly is setting the comments for note taking as shown at right. This is done with the "Comment Preferences" down at the bottom of the comments menu. See the graphic of Comment Settings here where the critical elements are shown at right: Further, while you are editing the preferences you might want to change a number of the Reader Settings on left. When you have a PDF article, or create a PDF from Word or the Web you can open it in Acobat Pro, OCR the file (document menu) and then set the program to read it to you. This is great when you are finalizing a paper to submit, so you can hear how it sounds.
Of course, you can not highlight the same file that it reads to you. Once done with the settings, open a your research article and highlight and markup anything you want. . . I sometimes will use the "typewriter". . . more to provide ideas to others. Usually any notes I want on a research article I will put into the yellow highlight comment space to export later.
To export them, go to the comments menu, and select comment summary. Select the Comments Only option and your print out will only have what you highlighted the page numbers and dates you marked things. |
