Subject: Why is it called King Grove?
A Real Family Farm (with a Real History)
150 Years of Family Farming | | For a limited period of time, in the Spring of each year, King Grove Organic Farm produces some of the most delicious and nutritious blueberries found anywhere in the world! Located in a pristine part of rural Lake County, Florida about 45 minutes North of Orlando, King Grove was originally established in 1874 by John King who moved from Buffalo, New York to Central Florida with his young family. They traveled by steamship to Savannah, Georgia and from there by horseback to the land that became their farm in Eustis. They built a house between two lakes and planted one of the first orange groves in Florida; naming the farm King Grove. In 1890, John King sold his farm to Cyrus Alger and it has remained in the same family ever since. Today, blueberries (now surrounded by fields of wildflowers, old growth woods, protected wetlands and wildlife) are the crown jewels. Hugh and Lisa Kent live in the house that John King built, and are the stewards of this land. | | The Kents believe that healthy soil is the basis for all truly organic agriculture and King Grove is a USDA Certified AND Real Organic Project Certified organic farm. (Unlike most other USDA "organic" blueberries available in the Spring, King Grove's are not grown in plastic pots or hydroponically.)* *The USDA allows hydroponic crops to be labelled as organic - virtually nowhere else in the world is this allowed. | | King Grove's blueberry varieties have been carefully chosen for their delicious flavor, and are picked daily at the perfect ripeness (then packed with care and immediately cooled to 35F). You get the freshest, best tasting blueberries that will last for weeks in your refrigerator - but you'll eat them long before that! | | Our 2023 season has begun! You can now order 5-pound boxes of fresh King Grove Real Organic blueberries on our website for either: UPS Delivery | | We wish you good health and thank you for your support!
